I will accept that as valid criticism, except where it comes to being too harsh on the Republican Party and it's potential candidates. I have recently written two blogs on "lighter" notes. One, a very special Christmas memory and also my grandmother who suffers from Alzheimer's Disease, but remember me still, today, by calling me to tell me she is still well more than I know.
However, I can not admit to, in my opinion, to be too hard on the Republicans. No doubt this parade of idiots would be being played out by the Democrats, had we not already a Democratic President, and we would all be disgusted and embarrassed and at the same time, shamed, that the greatest nation on earth could produce candidates of such meager quality, so little education, and so lacking in anything like a plan for the country beyond their single-minded plan to run a successful election.
So, I need not mention any particular Republican by name to cite their collective stupidity. Next time we have a Republican in the White House we can all look forward to an equally stupid parade of Democratic "wanna-bes."
I was therefore pleasantly surprised to find such a concise and intelligent letter to the editors at The Dallas Morning News, written by Susan Sanders Wansbrough, of Lake Highlands (also hail from Lake Highlands, so I am doubly proud.)
Her letter, whether intended or not, says so much about the "great-unwashed" U.S. electorate that is good, hopeful and encouraging about the future. I repeat her letter, here, verbatim.
"If I were considering a run for political office, I'd devote years learning everything I could about the powers and responsibilities of the office, and the issues I'd face if I were elected. Before throwing my hat in the ring, I'd carefully devise positions explaining how I'd handle those issues.
Candidates who advertise themselves as outsiders too often have only studied how to run a political campaign. The sad result is a field of candidates who embarrass themselves and their parties when tested by debates, interviews, etc.
We need to begin demanding more of political candidates; we should insist they demonstrate knowledge, maturity and self-control, not just the ability to deliver good sound bites. Otherwise, we're going to find ourselves disappointed over and over again."
Susan Sanders Wansbrough, Dallas/Lake Highlands
Ms Wansbrough, hit's the nail on the head, straight and true, with each blow until she drives it home. The vast majority of U.S. voters recognize stupidity, pandering, poor education, poor preparedness, the lack of, or complete disregard for truth and fact, not to mention the great questions and difficulties facing our nation. Even when presented with a line-up, such as those today, of potential candidates that would shame a third-world, back-woods, dictatorship, rather than credit to the greatest democracy on earth.
This will be no average election, mark it on your calendar. The citizens of this great nation will reject these mediocre at best Republican contestants. Barack Obama will be re-elected President and the Democrats will take control of both Houses of Congress. Not because they are the greatest minds on earth or that they have not been without blame, but because the Republicans of today, and particularly those they present as replacements to the current incumbents, are of minimal intelligence, pander and seek out special interest groups to serve, rather than the nation as a whole. The Republican party has shrunk itself to a group consisting of the smallest minds and the narrowest outlook. Despite all the efforts of the Fox News propaganda network, and the likes of Cal Thomas and Ann Coulter, will never succeed in selling this "pig's ear" as a silk purse.

I do not need the minimal income generated by your "clicking through" these ads to support myself. I have nothing to gain from your visiting an advertisers site and finding as a result that your computer is infected or your privacy infringed upon. Second, these ads are placed and serviced by a reputable sales organization - AdSense. They would quickly go out of business if readers who click through the ads they place on this blog became the least bit dissatisfied by the results. Cool blog.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for saying so. I have only just started blogging but find it a great outlet for my thoughts and it is better than screaming something back at the television when I listen to the evening news. I try to post something interesting at least once every two days, but sometimes more sometimes less. Please continue to read along. I very much appreciate comments.
